Open Enrollment for Knox County Government Employees
October 13 – November 13, 2009
Benefit Changes go into effect January 1, 2010
If you are not currently enrolled in the maximum $105,000 supplemental life insurance coverage for active employees, you may increase your coverage one step, you are required to complete a “One Step Change Form” and return it to the Retirement Office no later than November 13, 2009.

- If you wish to enroll in supplemental life insurance coverage that is more than the one step provided during open enrollment, you are required to complete a medical questionnaire and be approved by the carrier.
- Please return all forms to the Retirement Office for processing no later than November 13, 2009.

Retiree Open Enrollment 2010
Open Enrollment is October 13 – November 13, 2009. All forms must be submitted to the Retirement Office no later than November 30th for a January 1 effective date.
There are new benefits for 2010 and you are required to submit new enrollment forms for medical and dental for 2010. If no form is received, you will not have benefits for 2010.
Retiree Dental Insurance
This is a new benefit for 2010; we are required to have a minimum participation of at least 15% for this to be in effect for January 1.
Below are highlights of the Plan:
- PPO coverage for participants in the network
- Dentamax coverage for participants outside the coverage area
- All retiree’s, disability participants, spouses and dependents are eligible for dental coverage
- 12 month waiting period for major Restorative and Prosthodontics
Medicare Advantage Plan Insurance
- 3 Prescription Drug Coverage Options
- Must be enrolled in Medicare Part A & Part B
- PPO coverage for participants in the coverage area
- PFFS coverage for participants that is outside the coverage area
- Current Medicare Advantage Plan through Knox County Retirement will not be offered in 2010
- Summit Medical Group included in the PPO network
Active Medical Insurance for Retirees under age 65
There are changes to the Cigna Plans that are currently being offered.
Gold Plan: Will not be offered in 2010.
Silver Plan: There are changes, please see the detail that was mailed to your home.
Choice Plan: There are changes, please see the detail that was mailed to your home.
As a retiree, please remember that you are responsible for the full cost of the monthly premium.
