Knox County Home Rehabilitation: The Knox County Home Rehabilitation (KCHR) Program provides essential repairs to eligible homeowners to prevent home deterioration, provide accessibility modifications, and maintain housing quality and safety.
There are two components of this program:
- Emergency Home Repair Grant – eligible repairs are those covered at no cost to the homeowners and are deemed life-threatening or severe. Grant-eligible repairs eliminate a threat to residents' life, health, and safety.
- Minor Home Repair Loan - covers all other eligible repairs under moderate and low priority categories. This loan is offered at a 0% interest rate and at this time, will only be provided if Emergency Repairs are also required.
Housing and Public Services: Housing and public service programs are focused on increasing affordable housing for low- to moderate- income residents and providing a variety of services in the prevention of and response to homelessness.
Economic Development: Defined Services and Economic Development programs focus on a wide variety of projects that support the Mayor's priorities of job growth, public education, and recreation.
Public Safety: Public safety programs are focused on enhancing fire and rescue services in Knox County and supporting other public safety departments in Homeland Security District 2 by providing emergency responder equipment, training, and exercises.
