Social Services

Social Services conducts eligibility determinations for the Knox County Indigent Care Program, which qualifies Knox County residents, who meet income guidelines, for free medical care and or dental extractions for adults. Eligibility also is determined for low-income school children with no insurance in need of dental services. Temporary Medicaid coverage for pregnancy, also known as Medicaid Presumptive Eligibility (MPE), is available to income eligible women. Clients may also complete a voter registration application. Social Services makes next day appointments for all services.
