Life Safety House

Knox County along with Rural Metro Fire Department utilize a unique trailer for teaching kindergarten and preschoolers at their schools.  The Life Safety House is a 30 foot long, two level mobile classroom that simulates the various living spaces in a residence with the fire and safety hazards that might exist.  Each semester, schools are notified about the Life Safety House program and are encouraged to schedule an on-site visit.  Every year, thousands of children are taught valuable life-saving lessons with the use of this special trailer.  The Life Safety House program is coordinated by Fire Prevention Specialist Larry Wilder with assistance from Rural Metro Fire Department firefighters.
