It’s Almost Time to Get Outdoors!
The Get Outdoors Festival will be the premiere event in the region for outdoor enthusiasts, competitive and recreational athletes, and families who just want to discover new ways to get fit and have fun! East Tennessee’s abundant natural resources and parkland offer many opportunities for physical exercise and outdoor activities. We hope to lead the effort to encourage individuals in our community to increase their activity levels and embrace a healthy lifestyle.
The free event is both interactive and informative. It will bring together sports clubs, outdoor experts and outfitters, health and fitness exhibitors and retailers for a day long festival at World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville. Family oriented activities and hands-on demonstrations in a variety of sports, from disc golf to fly fishing to skateboarding and rock climbing will be available.
Several notable local groups are organizing events in conjunction with the Festival, including:
- The Knoxville Track Club – Seven Islands Trail Run
- Riversports – Urban Challenge
- Mast General Store – Amazing Downtown Race
- The Knoxville Regional Bicycle Program – Greenway Bicycle Ride
- Great Smoky Mountain Geocaching Club – Cache Run
And, to make it even more fun, live music will rock the Tennessee Amphitheater all afternoon!
All proceeds will benefit the Legacy Parks Foundation.
