The Retroholics Return to Second Saturday Concert Series
Volleyball competition creates a day long event
One of last year's favorites, The Retroholics, are back for a repeat performance at this week’s Second Saturday Concert at The Cove at Concord Park, playing 80s and 90s rock and roll music. The concert is from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at 11808 Northshore Drive. You can enjoy the concert with a picnic in the park or from a boat on the lake.
This Saturday, we are providing a full day of festivities at the Cove. In addition to the concert, the new East Tennessee Volleyball Association will present a day of beach volleyball reminiscent of an Olympic competition. Dan Danis, Director of the Association says, “We have gathered some of the most experienced players in the area from club ball and pro rankings to showcase the excitement of this growing sport."
Tournament play will begin at 11 a.m. Information about opportunities to get involved and ways to support the ETVA will be available. According to Danis, "Our hope is to reach out to players of all levels and ages, and to provide leagues, tournaments, training, clinics, camps and much more.”
For more information about Saturday's volleyball competition, please contact Knox County Parks and Recreation, 215-6600, or the East Tennessee Volleyball Association, 765-7300.
Knox County Parks and Recreation presents the concert series on the second Saturday of each month during the summer. On September 12, the Knoxville Symphony Brass Quintet will be the featured performer.

Knox County Parks and Recreation and The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) present the annual Free Fishing Day at The Cove at Concord Park on Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. until noon. Participants are allowed to fish without a license for the day.
TWRA sponsors the event throughout the state in an effort to promote fishing. The pond at The Cove will be stocked with catfish, bait will be provided, and borrow-and-return fishing rods will be supplied for folks who don’t have one.
For first time anglers, or if you just can’t stand to touch the worm, TWRA officers and volunteers will be on site to help. Refreshments will be available and prizes will be given out at the conclusion of the event.
For more information, contact the TWRA website or Knox County Parks & Recreation at 215-6600.
