Wear Red for Women Day

Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and City of Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero joined county and city employees in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building on Friday to present a joint proclamation designating Feb. 1, 2013 as “Wear Red for Women Day.”

This marks the American Heart Association’s 10th Annual National Wear Red Day, which aims to bring awareness to cardiovascular diseases that affect an estimated 43 million U.S. women.

At the event, the American Heart Association’s Greater Southeast Affiliate offered blood pressure and weight checks, body fat screenings, educational materials, goodies and door prizes.
