Alzheimer's Tennessee, Inc. is conducting a Virtual Alzheimer’s Tour at the Halls Senior Center located at 4405 Crippen Road on Friday, Feb. 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 25, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Virtual Alzheimer’s Tour is a hands-on experience to help participants understand the physical and mental challenges facing individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. During the tour, participants’ vision, hearing and other senses are distorted to simulate the effects of the disease as they try to complete simple instructions and tasks.
The tour is not recommended for anyone currently experiencing Alzheimer’s disease but designed to help caregivers, family members and friends better understand what it is like to live with the disease.
The tour schedule is completely full at this time, but those interested in being added to the waiting list should call the Halls Senior Center at 865-922-0416.
Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc. is a non-profit group dedicated to providing support and assistance to Tennesseans with Alzheimer’s disease and their families as well as advocating for research to prevent, cure and treat the disease.
