Commissioner Wright donates funds for Wii console, exercise programs for Carter Senior Center

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (June 3, 2013) -- Knox County Commissioner Dave Wright donated $300 Monday for the purchase of a Wii game console and Wii exercise programs to be used at the Carter Senior Center.

“We appreciate Commissioner Wright’s generous donation for the purchase of a Wii system,” said Knox County Community Outreach Director Hemal Tailor.  “Thanks to this donation, Carter seniors have an opportunity to enjoy fun, low-impact physical activity without the use of heavy exercise equipment. Everything they need is in the palm of their hands.”

In addition to Wii fitness programs, additional activities offered  at Carter and other Knox County senior centers include fitness classes, Tai Chi, crafts, dancing and other social opportunities.

Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, Knox County Community Outreach Director Hemal Tailor and Carter Senior Center Coordinator Rebecca Kirkland Quarles joined Commissioner Wright for a check presentation at the center on Monday, June 3.
