Thanks to the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club, the community has a chance to experience South Knoxville in a whole new way at SouthFest: from the seat of a bike. The Tour de South bike ride will consist of two routes, one for adults and the other for kids.
The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club will lead both routes, which will depart at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 from the Disc Exchange shopping center located at 2615 Chapman Highway. The adult route will lead riders to Ijams Nature Center and back, with the kids’ route taking a shorter ride to Fort Dickerson Park. Participants will need to bring their own bikes and helmets.
Special thanks to Brian Hann, president of the Appalachian Mountain Bike Club, for organizing the event, and to the Knoxville Police Department for providing two bicycle officers to accompany the riders.
