Amy S. Hickerson - Biography
Amy Hickerson practices law in a number of areas for Knox County, including personal injury, medical malpractice, premises liability, and civil rights. Amy joined the Knox County Law Department in the fall of 2011.
In 2007, Amy graduated law school cum laude and ranked in the top fourteen percent of her graduating class. While in law school, Amy worked as a Student Editor of the Law Review, participated in moot court and mock trial competitions, and served as a class representative on the Student Bar Association.
Amy first practiced law as counsel in a litigation firm specializing in catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, wrongful death, and professional malpractice cases. Amy also served as a judicial law clerk in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, where she researched and drafted legal opinions on a myriad of issues, including employment, civil rights, and tort law. Additionally, Amy taught legal writing as an adjunct writing professor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Before she joined the Knox County Law Department, Amy was an attorney with a state-wide law firm where her practice focused primarily on personal injury, medical malpractice, premises liability, and insurance law matters.
