Social Services conducts eligibility determinations for the Knox County Indigent Care Program, which qualifies Knox County residents, who meet income guidelines for free medical care.  Medicare recipients with low income may also qualify for help with some prescriptions.  Eligibility is also determined for low-income school children that need dental care as well as low-income adults for extractions only.  Temporary Medicaid coverage, or presumptive eligibility, is available to income eligible women.  Voter registration is also available.
