Small Pox Training
Welcome to the training site for Knox County Health Department's
smallpox immunization clinic plan. Like all other public health
departments in the United States, Knox County Health Department must
have a contingency plan to vaccinate the entire population of Knox
County over a ten day period. The plan would only be activated if a
case of smallpox occurred in our world; this situation would be
considered a national emergency.
In order to carry out such an enormous task, Knox County Health Department has recruited and trained medical and non-medical volunteers for a variety of job functions in the emergency plan. By linking to any of the sites on this page, a volunteer may review the slides presented in the training sessions, and look at the description of the particular job function to which he or she has been assigned.

Have you received your smallpox post event clinic assignment postcard
and don't know what to do now?
If you have received a postcard stating your assignment to work in the post-event scenario with the clinic assignment, job assignment, shift and your personal ID #, then please keep your card and post it in a prominent place. If an event occurs, you will be alerted to call into the Communicator. You should give your ID # and receive a message regarding the situation with further instructions. Please follow the instructions of the message and bring your postcard with you to your reporting area.
