Free Festivities and Fun to Kickoff the New School Year

Monday, August 11, 2008 Parents and kids, come celebrate the first day of school with a FREE festival with educational activities, entertainment, and prizes. Knoxville Expo Center is located at the corner of Clinton Highway and Merchant’s Drive (click here for map) |
Area schoolchildren can celebrate education and the completion of the first day of school with live entertainment and more than 75 exhibitors and activities. Kids and families will enjoy:

Singing and dancing along to a live concert by Varsity Fan Club, presented by Star 102.1. This boy band will present their debut single, Future Love, featuring a danceable, upbeat mix of pop, hip hop, and a little R&B.
- Practicing their weather forecasting talents on the interactive television “Weather Wall” presented by Comcast and the Weather Channel.

Meeting and greeting UT athletes, as well Smokey and other area mascots.

Jumping and bouncing on inflatable Moonwalks for all ages.

Moving and grooving with local dance performers.

Being astounded and amazed by magicians, puppet shows, and interactive games live from center stage.

Enjoying games and activities, giveaways and prizes including backpacks, school supplies, and bicycle helmets.
