WHO: Knox County’s Volunteer Stars Awards
WHAT: Nomination Deadline Extended to August 20.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Governor Bredesen is looking for Tennessee’s most outstanding volunteers for his Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards. Each county will select one youth and one adult volunteer to receive this prestigious award. Nominations for the inaugural class of the Awards are being accepted in Knox County until August 20. The Volunteer Star awards will celebrate the efforts of citizens who strive to improve their communities through service.
Each County will judge its nominees on four factors: the community’s need of the volunteer service performed, the initiative taken to perform the service, the creativity used to solve a community problem and the impact of the volunteer service on the community. Recipients of the Knox County volunteer awards will be honored at the Governor’s Volunteer Stars ceremony in Nashville in September.
Nomination forms are available on the Knox County website, www.knoxcounty.org, or by calling Knox County Parks and Recreation, 215-6600.
