The Knox County Finance Department has received its 12th consecutive Award of Excellence for the comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) notified John Troyer, County Senior Director of Finance, of the award last week. According to GFOA, the award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by the Knox County financial team.

Troyer credited his team their unflagging efforts, "It took a lot of hard work by the entire team and I am very thankful for their efforts and abilities. I am very proud to be working with such an excellent team."

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,000 government financial professionals. In addition to the Award of Excellence, the department also received an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement (AFRA). GFOA provides comments and suggestions for possible improvements to reporting techniques, which the department is evaluating for incorporation in next year's report.
