Paul Pinkston was appointed by the Commission on March 15, 2004 to fill the position left vacant by his beloved brother, Commissioner Howard Pinkston, upon his passing. Commissioner Pinskston was subsequently elected to the Knox County Commission in August 2004 to serve the people of South Knoxville.

Commissioner Pinkston is a third generation South Knoxvillian. He is a retired businessman, having worked 43 years in the automobile industry. Paul and Howard were co-owners of Pinkston Motors, a South Knoxville landmark, for 31 years. Commissioner Pinkston has actively supported area schools and community events and maintains a keen interest in all things related to South Knoxville.

Commissioner Paul Pinkston is currently serving on the Finance Committee, and is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Commissioner Pinkston believes his business acumen will assist him in making positive decisions for the people of South Knoxville and Knox County. “My goal is to protect our communities while encouraging productive growth,” Pinkston says. “My promise is to serve the people of South Knoxville with honesty and integrity.”

Commissioner Pinkston is married to Dorothy M. Pinkston. They have three children, Lisa (deceased), Greg, and William Henderson, and four grandsons.

The Pinkstons reside at 3600 Timberlake Road in South Knoxville.
